A little bit about me...
The inspiration for all of Angelique Walker's hand crafted pieces began in her undergraduate studies and has continued to grow into much more than a hobby. Something special happened when her passion for creating detailed copper artwork mixed with her love for the outdoors.
Plants and animals (especially dragonflies) emerged as silhouettes, which were transformed into implied-line drawings. Depending on each individual design you may notice either the silhouette, implied line or a combination of both. ( i.e. Silhouettes – paw prints & butterflies; Implied-line – the more intricate dragonfly; Both Silhouette & Implied-line - Iris ) Those same sketches were placed directly onto sheets of copper and were carved delicately and with great precision until the form were complete.
Her fascination with texture put polishing aside to explore different ways to abrade the metal's surface to accomplish both simple and intricate designs.
The idea of The Copper Dragonfly was hatched and she has been exhibiting her hand crafted jewelry, bookmarks, and other gift at a variety of craft shows through out the Chicago land area since 2003. The Copper Dragonfly was sighted in craft shows as early as 2003, but it didn’t officially take off until 2006 with the start of the website and regular appearances in annual craft shows.
