The Copper Dragonfly is very unique in that it does not use chemicals to seal any of the metal used in our hand crafted jewelry & gifts.  By not treating any of the metals, this allows for natural oxidation of the metal or a patina to form, which adds character to each piece that is made. The resulting color of this patina will vary slightly depending on its exposure to air, lotions, perfumes, natural oils from the wearer’s skin, etc.  

Care & Maintenance:
The oxidation or patina can easily be removed if desired. Soak the Copper in vinegar for 10-20 minutes and wipe dry.  I do not recommend soaking beads in vinegar. For those of you who have discovered that your skin chemistry or favorite lotion or perfume has caused your copper jewelry to turn your skin green, a coating of clear nail polish should do the trick. I am currently looking for a more earth-friendly alternative, and will keep everyone posted.
